Video shows pet groomer shoving dog in his care as mother claims her children shaken by the sight
Shocking footage of a pet groomer allegedly treating two dogs very roughly, including grabbing one âby the throatâ, left a mother and her two children feeling so uncomfortable they removed their pet from the store.
The mother, who asked not to be named, was horrified to witness a groomer at a northern Sydney pet grooming salon subject her cavoodle to âtraumatic abuseâ in his shop on Tuesday, which she filmed and posted to Facebook.
The video attracted plenty of attention, leading to a slew of bad reviews online â" which the store owner claims amounts to strangers trying to âcancelâ his business.
A mum of two shot a video of a Sydney groomer treating two dogs roughly â" including her own cavoodle â" before she rushed in to remove her dog from the salon
The woman told Daily Mail Australia she confronted the groomer over his treatment of two dogs, including her cavoodle Lola, but was met with ânot an ounce of remorseâ.
âMyself and my two children witnessed a puppy prior to ours, smaller and very timid being handled roughly, hand around its neck whilst being pulled up and down and side to side which is why I started to film when our dog was brought out,â she told Daily Mail Australia.

âI began filming because we had just watched him grab the dog before this by the throat, pushing it side to side.
âAs you can see when I saw him start being rough with our dog I dropped my phone and ran in.
âNot an ounce of remorse from either of the men. It has been reported but I felt the need to stop anyone else from potentially experiencing this.
âMy children and I are still in shock from witnessing the most traumatic abuse by this groomer.â
But the owner of the grooming salon told Daily Mail Australia that the dog was not injured and the staff member was handling the dog firmly so he didnât mistakenly cut it with scissors.
âThe dog was very young, maybe six or seven months, anxious and untrained and doesnât know how to stand, so it keeps trying to sit when we are cutting the fur,â the man told Daily Mail Australia.
âShe has very matted fur and when the dog tries to sit that can be dangerous and we can cut the skin by mistake. So it is important to have strong control of the dog.â
But he did admit the groomer âgot angry because the dog doesnât stay very wellâ.
The womanâs Facebook post sparked a flood of bad reviews for the grooming salon, where she claims her dog was abused
The owner said since the Facebook video appeared he had received complaints and abuse from all over the world, causing him so much stress he could not sleep.
âI work hard, I understand everyone is stressed at the moment by Covid but it is not fair to try and damage my business,â he said.
In the past day several people have posted one-star reviews of his salon on Google. Prior to the video being posted most of the salonâs reviews were positive.
He said people are âclearly trying to damage my business, I have had to talk to lawyersâ.
âI have been working with dogs for nine years and we have not had complaints before now. I have two standard poodles myself, I love dogs.â
The man said he would not fire the groomer âfor one mistakeâ.
âI have spoken to him and asked him to be more gentle. I am going to keep him.â
