Finding a home on the water is not an easy feat, especially a lakefront property in the GTA. That’s why there was a lot of interest in this Stoney Creek house.

Listing agent Michael Phinney says most potential buyers came from Burlington, Hamilton and Oakville, drawn by a completely renovated residence on a property with 126 feet of shoreline and a recently completed seawall with a concrete deck.

Water views, vaulted ceilings, an open concept and current finishes and colour schemes were among the other features that potential buyers liked.

As well, “bungalows are always desirable and finding a fully renovated bungalow is rare,” he says.

The 6,800-square-foot home was built in 2003 and the main floor was renovated in 2019. Phinney says, “This renovation completely transformed the feel of the property and ensured the waterfront views could be captured no matter which room the house you are in.”

In fact, he says most agents commented about the “spectacular views of the lake as soon as you walk into the home. It is bright and airy and gives a vacation feel.”

This pocket is in demand because it offers waterfront properties and custom-built homes throughout the neighbourhood, he says. “The waterfront properties are more affordable when you compare them to waterfront properties in Oakville.  It is also close to the highway, which makes commuting simple.” Phinney says, “The pandemic opened potential buyers looking to move further west to Hamilton. With less limitations on having to live close to work more people have been willing to expand their search further west….at the end of the day if you want a waterfront property I think buyers are willing to look in a variety of locations to find the right property as the property itself is what is most important to them.”
